Most
joint families here in the past owned elephants and their
increasing number was considered as a status symbol of the
family. But today only a handful of families own an elephant.
The rest have entrusted these treasured possessions to the
temple managements owing to the degeneration of the joint
family system and the rising cost of maintaining elephants.
Today,
we will take you for an Elephant Camp visit at Paravoor, a
place located 45 kms from Trivandrum.

Proceed to the elephant camp at Paravoor

hrs Arrive at Elephant camp (near Paravoor)
You will be welcomed by some majestic elephants,
Feed the Elephants and get acquainted with.

hrs Arrive at the village pond where the elephants bath,
guests can join if they wish so. Ride on, about 20 mnts.

hrs Proceed to paravoor backwater by safari boat.
Get off at lakeside coir village to see how the coir is being
made.
Proceed further on the motorboat, which will take you to the
narrow canals where you can experience the serenity of the
nature on a country boat using bamboo stick for rowing.
